Kashmiri Crewel Wall Hanging

This beautiful crewel work embroidered panel is a traditional textile art of Kashmir. 

The chain stitch embroidered flowers have been stitched into a white background. 

When I found this piece it was unfinished and a little tatty on the back side therefore I've backed it with a lightweight off white muslin fabric which colour matches well with the background cotton. 

I've picked two lovely complimentary coloured cottons, a gorgeous cerulean blue for the trim and a rich ochre for the pole tabs. They both work so well to pull out the same tones of the wool stitching.
